Lowell Takes it Off 2011 Weight Loss Challenge Wrap Up
Lowell Takes It Off Weight Loss Challenge 2011 participants lost a total of 1,026 pounds, or 4.29% of the entire participant weight!
With 120 individuals and 30 teams participating this year, competition was tough. In the final tally, team Mission Slim Possible won losing 10.12% of their weight and a total of 122 pounds. Team members included Jill Dean, Julie Krajewski, Liz Pratt, Kim Taylor and Helen Thompson. For losing the highest percentage of team weight, they will receive a team prize that includes an overnight stay at Main Street Inn, as well as Shop Lowell Certificates for a night on the town.
“We had a lot of fun. Not only did we help each other with moments of weakness, but we motivated each other to keep moving,” Taylor said.
The top five teams this year were:
Mission Slim Possible 122 pounds, 10.12%
Team of Two 38 pounds, 8.76%
Curtis Cleaners 84 pounds, 8.33%
Enwork Energizers #2 59 pounds, 7.33%

Tobacco Free For Good is a FREE Smoking Cessation Class offered to residents in the greater Lowell Area.
Two free classes will be offered this winter at Lowell Family Medical Center 2550 West Main Street, Lowell. Call 616.446.7058 to register. Each class runs for eight weeks. Evening and weekend sessions are available. Times and dates will be determined by those registered. Guests and support persons welcome to attend.
The program has been offered in Lowell for five years and has helped over 150 people. Classes and support meetings are facilitated by a Mayo Clinic trained and certified tobacco treatment specialist and the curriculum meets nationally published clinical treatment guidelines. Topics covered include understanding nicotine addiction, medication options, stress management, weight control, developing a personal quit plan and relapse prevention.
